SARASOTA - Colby Delaney tossed a complete-game two-hitter and Zach Heckman went 3-for-4 with four RBI to lead Lake Placid to a 10-1 rout of Sarasota Booker in high school baseball at Ed Smith Stadium on Saturday night.
Delaney, who also had two hits and two RBI, allowed an unearned run and struck out seven as the Green Dragons improved to 6-7 on the season with the non-district win.
Logan Smith had two hits and an RBI as Lake Placid jumped all over the Tornadoes pitching staff.
"Colby didn't have his best stuff, but he settled down as the game progressed," said Lake Placid coach Dan Coomes. "He was overthrowing the ball early on, but he got in a good rhythm and had a solid outing for us.
"It was a good win for us and we just need to keep after it and work hard to improve."
The game was played at Ed Smith Stadium, which is the spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds.
"The kids were so excited to get to play on that field," said Coomes. "They wanted to take infield practice about 45 minutes before we were supposed to.
"It was a great experience for the team and something they will always remember."
Lake Placid is at Hardee tonight and the Green Dragons are home on Thursday against DeSoto.
