LAKE PLACID - Work has begun on the Miracle League field.
The Lake Placid Town Council approved a contract earlier this month with Excavation Point for clearing the site at the Lake June ball fields. The council also approved the contract for the field's rubberized surface that will be installed by Surface America.
John Komasa, the town's parks and recreation director, said he expects the excavation work to be completed by the end of this month. Installation of the surface is expected to begin in early May.
The Miracle League is a baseball league for developmentally disabled adults and children.
The field will also be used for soccer, T-Ball and softball.
