I was invited to participate in the cancer fund raiser fashion show last year as a Realtor and an usher. I was told there were Realtors and cancer survivors that would be modeling in the show. When I mentioned that I was also a survivor, I was promoted to model.
I was honored to participate in this wonderful fundraiser for cancer. I honestly did not know what to expect, but I found out in a hurry that we start with very ordinary people and turn them into professional models! The hours that go into this show are countless. The ladies involved in this show are so wonderful to work with.
I knew most of them before I got involved, but now I feel that they are all great friends to me. I hope to be invited back next year, and I encourage other men to come forward and volunteer also. I was the only male model in the show for the second year in a row, and you guys don't know what you are missing! If you are a cancer survivor I would encourage you to get involved. I actually look forward to working with these wonderful ladies.
Of course all of this would mean nothing if the community did not participate. We had a sold out performance at the Chateau Elan, and we hope to expand in the future and get a larger venue. As I look over the crowd of wonderful supporters I noticed one thing. There are very few men coming to the show. Ladies, you need to invite your husbands to attend next year. There is a great story being told, and a magnificent awareness of survivors in our community, not to mention the gorgeous ladies performing for the audience.
Thank You Highlands County for your support again. I understand that we raised over $15,000 for a super cause.
