Published: March 5, 2009

SEBRING - There was nothing new to report in the cases of two kids missing from Sebring, said Highlands County Sheriff's Lt. Tim Lethbridge on Wednesday.
Stormi Layne Canter
The sheriff's office is searching for a 12-year-old girl who never returned from school on Monday, March 2.
Stormi Layne Canter, 12, left Sebring Middle School at 3:15 p.m., and was last seen on Lakeview Drive, according to her mother, Helen McKinney.

"Her friend said she didn't feel like going home right after school," McKinney said in a previous report.

Her daughter would go from one friend's house to another every time she called trying to find out where she was, she said.

An acquaintance told investigators Canter got into a black Toyota with two boys between 9:30 and 10 p.m., according to McKinney.

"Nobody knows these boys," she said.

McKinney added that the school resource officer talked with other students and feels confident that none of them know where she is at. Relatives in Miami and South Carolina have been notified, but say they have no information on Canter's whereabouts.
Lethbridge said all deputies have a photo of Canter and are actively looking for her.

"At this time, we don't have any indication of foul play," but are taking the case very seriously because of her young age, Lethbridge said Tuesday.
Canter is 5-feet 1-inch tall and weighs 145 pounds. She has blonde hair, blue eyes and wears braces.

Anyone with information should contact the sheriff's office at 863- 402-7200. Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward can call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 800-226-8477.

Joshua Brett Taylor
On Monday, Feb. 23, deputies were contacted by Maria Robinson who said her son, Joshua Taylor, ran away. Joshua Taylor was last seen at his home on Sunset Drive in Sebring.
Joshua Taylor was last seen wearing black BDU-style pants, a white tee shirt and a silver earring in his left ear. He is 5-feet 11-inches tall, 160 pounds, with short black hair.

The boy's grandmother lives in Polk County, Lethbridge said, adding that he was not aware of any connection between the two cases.

The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is requesting anyone with information in reference to this missing juvenile to please contact Detective Tyrone Tyson at 402-7341.
