TAMPA - Sophomore outfielder Ryan Williams, a Sebring High alumnus, and sophomore infielder Austin Gaines had four hits each to lead the South Florida Community College baseball team to a 10-3 victory over the Tampa University B team on Monday night.
Right-hander Adam Simmons, a former Sebring High standout, earned the win to improve to 3-2 on the season by allowing two runs with five strikeouts in his seven innings of work.
The win improved the sixth-ranked Panthers to 18-6 on the season.
"We continue to look toward cleaning things up as we work toward our conference opener," said SFCC coach Rick Hitt. "We can still improve in all areas of the game regardless of what our current record is."
SFCC opens its conference schedule on Friday when the Panthers host Pasco-Hernando Community College.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
"We've done a good job of hitting the ball and we're pleased with how deep our starters have been able to go," said Hitt. "The conference games are the ones that really matter, and we need to keep working hard and go out and compete each day."
