Cessna continues as main expo sponsor
SEBRING - The US Sport Aviation Expo, scheduled for Jan. 21-24, 2010 at Sebring Regional Airport, announces that Cessna Aircraft Co. has agreed to continue to be the main sponsor for the event.
"We are thrilled that Cessna has again agreed to be the 'presenting sponsor' for our event. Their continued involvement in LSA is of great importance to this community," said Bob Wood, expo chairman.
January 2010 will be the sixth time the expo has been presented. It will continue to be focused on Light Sport Aircraft and the Sport Pilot Certificate. As in the past, free educational forums will be arranged by the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Dr. Lacson relocating his office
AVON PARK - Dr. J. Augustin Lacson, who specializes in infectious diseases, will be moving his office to Avon Park.
The new address is 3300 U.S. 27 S. The office will be open from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 385-6700.
Lacson will be moving into his own building, which covers 4,100 square feet. He had occupied a much smaller space for the past six years in the Village Fountain Plaza in Sebring. The doctor and his staff will be in the new location Monday, June 29.
The doctor is considering offering more services, according to Janice Lacson, nurse/office manager.
Janice Lacson said Dr. Marie Rosy Toussaint, who specializes in internal medicine, will be leasing space in Dr. Lacson's building. Toussaint will also be working there starting Monday.
FHREDI moving to Lakeview Drive
SEBRING - The staff of Florida's Heartland Rural Economic Development Initiative will be in their new Sebring location Monday, June 29.
The address is 1570 Lakeview Drive Suite 100. The office will be open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
FHREDI had occupied space at Heartland Workforce on U.S. 27 in Sebring. Sam's Club is eventually supposed to take over that building.
Lynn Topel, executive director, said it would be "cost prohibitive" to locate on U.S. 27. Topel added that FHREDI does not need to be on U.S. 27.
Unlike the previous location, Topel said the organization will now have a board room and will be able to host meetings.
Wegman named to hospice board
TAMPA - Lakeland businessman Phil Wegman was elected to a three-year term with the Good Shepherd Hospice board of directors. The election was held at the organization's annual meeting in Tampa last month.
Wegman is a partner in the firm of Furr & Wegman P.A. He has been a long-time supporter of Good Shepherd Hospice and volunteers his time with the hospice's Bethany Center for Grieving Children. In 2008, Good Shepherd Hospice named Wegman its Hospice Hero for his commitment and dedication to the needs of grieving children.
Good Shepherd Hospice is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that supports and serves more than 700 patients each day in Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties.
