Hurricane destruction

Published: June 27, 2009

Well, it's hurricane season again. In 2003 we were devastated by our losses as were many in this area. But the real problem that concerns me at this time is the aftermath.

We had immense damage to our home and we contacted a local contractor to fix the damage after the hurricanes. The contractor left with the last of our money and the last of the work unpaid to the subcontractors. We then had to pay out again.

The work never passed state inspection, but the local subcontractors placed a lean on our home; another lesson learned and so we had to pay them, even though we had paid the contractor in the first place.

Guess what happened now? The new roof was done in January of 2004 and now it is leaking inside my home. Of course we tried the legal means in the beginning, but we are in line with many others with this same contractor. So, I hope this is a warning to all homeowners; be careful who you hire, check them out! My roof, swimming pool, pool cage, paint peeling from walls and unfinished work, are just some of the problems I have at this time from some supposedly respected businesses in Sebring.
