Dog show planned at mall

SEBRING - The Paws and Stripes Dog Show and Walk will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 27 at Lakeshore Mall in Sebring.

Registration begins at 8:30 in front of Kmart inside the mall.

The contests will include smallest and largest dog, cutest dog and most talented dog.

Dog owners will be able to register the day of the event.

LP Jaycees to hold barbecue fundraiser

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Jaycees will hold a barbecue fundraiser for the July 4th fireworks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 at Stuart Park on Interlake Boulevard.

The cost is $8 for half-a-chicken, baked beans, coleslaw and a roll. Meals can be ordered by calling 381-6930.

Folk singer to perform at Bok Tower

LAKE WALES - Folk singer Rod MacDonald will perform at Bok Tower Gardens' Live at the Gardens - A Simmer Music Series at 7:30 p.m. June 27.

Seating will be cabaret-style in the Visitor Center. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event.

MacDonald has been entertaining audiences for more than 30 years with his timless ballads, modern folk songs and eclectic brand of music.

Free movies slated at local libraries

SEBRING - Free movies will be shown at the Sebring and Lake Placid libraries on June 27. They will both begin at 2 p.m.

"Ratatouille" will be shown at Sebring, 319 W. Center Ave., and "Hotel for Dogs" is scheduled at Lake Placid, 205 W. Interlake Blvd.

No movie will be shown at the Avon Park library on Saturday.
