AVON PARK - An argument between two young brothers reportedly escalated into a fight involving a rake, a stick and a kitchen knife and ended with their arrest for assault and battery.
Both brothers, ages 11 and 14, were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and misdemeanor battery. The younger brother was also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The boys' mother told police her sons had been arguing before a fight broke out after the older brother pushed his younger sibling.
The two separated and the 11-year-old hit his brother in the head with a small stick. The 14-year-old retaliated for the blow by grabbing a kitchen knife and chasing his sibling out of the house, according to the arrest report.
Outside, the fighting continued after the boys armed themselves with a long painting handle and a rake. Neither one listened as their mother tried to break them up. The scuffle came to an end after the police were called.
APPD Officer David Sass made the arrest.
