AVON PARK - An Avon Park man stopped for riding his bike at night without proper lighting was subsequently arrested after police reportedly found cocaine in his shoe.
Quinton Ldarius Myers, 21, of 31 Wilkes St., Avon Park, was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Highlands County Jail Monday under a $1,500 bond.
The stop happened at 2:46 a.m. Friday on a sidewalk near Donaldson Park. After Avon Park Police Officer Orlando Esquibel warned Myers about not having proper lighting on the bike, he asked him if he had any drugs or weapons on his person, according to the arrest report.
Myers put both his hands in the air and said, "No. You can search me." Esquibel did not find anything on his outer clothing.
The officer then noticed that Myers' shoes were loose fitting and untied, prompting Esquibel to ask him to take them off.
As Myers removed his right shoe, a small brown tube fell out of it, the report stated.
The object was said to be a 2 1/2-inch plastic cigar tube containing three pieces of crack cocaine.
Myers was arrested without incident and taken to the Highlands County Jail.
