Carnival Night planned in LP

LAKE PLACID - The merchants along North Main Avenue in Lake Placid are hosting Carnival Night from 5 - 8 p.m. today.

There will games for kids, music, clowns, prizes and food.

Several stores will be open during that time.

SATURDAY

Free movies scheduled at libraries

SEBRING - Free movies are scheduled at all three public libraries in Highlands County on July 18. Each one begins at 2 p.m.

"Cars" will be shown at Lake Placid, 205 W. Interlake Blvd. The movie scheduled at Sebring, 319 W. Center Ave., is "Snow Buddies." Avon Park, 100 N. Museum Ave., is showing "Bringing Up Baby."

SUNDAY

Speaker Series continues in AP
AVON PARK - The Historical Society of Avon Park will continue its third Summer Speakers Series on July 19 at the Depot Museum.

The program will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is free but donations are accepted and light refreshments will be served.

The topic is "Writing the Stories of Your Life," a workshop conducted by local writer and historical society president Larry Levey.
