WINTER HAVEN - Dylan Sanders pitched 5 1/3 solid innings and the offense produced just enough runs as the Sebring All-Stars eased past Crystal River by a score of 5-4 in the Dixie Pre-Majors (ages 15-16) state baseball tournament Monday at the Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven.
The teams had to wait out a two-hour rain delay in the bottom of the second inning before they could resume play.
Sanders, a hard-throwing right-hander, kept the Crystal River players off-balance with a moving fastball and an assortment of breaking pitches to earn the win.
Sebring All-Star catcher Jesse Baker provided solid defense behind the plate and the rifle-armed backstop kept Crystal River from taking liberty on the basepaths.
The victory kept Sebring undefeated in the seven-team, double-elimination tournament and set up a game against Inverness on Tuesday.
