Junior golf camp
SEBRING
Golf Hammock Country Club is holding a junior golf camp for ages 8-16 who have not played the game before, but would like to learn how to play. Clinics will be held on Tuesday's and Thursday's during July from 10 a.m. until noon. Clubs and balls will be furnished and there is no charge, but donations will be accepted for the Hansen House. Water Aerobics
SEBRING
A water aerobics summer class is being offered at the Sebring High School pool. The class is being taught by licensed instructor Ricki Albritton every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and the cost is $2 for each class. For more information, contact Pat Caton at 863-381-7092.

LP swim program
LAKE PLACID
The Lake Placid High School pool has open hours Monday through Saturday from 1 until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday's open hours at night are from 6-8 p.m.
During evening swim time there will be lanes set up for lap swimming. Summer swim lessons are also available and for more information, contact Cindy Rivers at 699-5010 or 441-5010.

Golf lessons
SEBRING
Debby McNall will be holding junior golf clinics for ages 5-17 on Friday mornings at Golf Hammock at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per child.
Ladies "Hit and Giggles" clinics will run on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. with the cost $20 per person for clinic and play.
Adult clinics will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday mornings.

Youth tennis camp
SEBRING
A youth tennis camp for boys and girls ages 6-18 will be held at the Thakkar Tennis Center at the Country Club of Sebring beginning June 8 and running through July 31. The cost for the week-long camps, which run from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday, is $100 per child.

YMCA offering badminton

The Highlands County YMCA is offering badminton from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays for players ages 14 and up.

Sun 'N Lake to hold junior golf clinics

Sun 'N Lake country club will hold weekly junior golf clinics from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
Cost is $15, which includes instruction in all areas of the game, including etiquette, rules and basic fundamentals.

Weekend youth pick-up baseball players wanted

Want to play ball? Need a break from video games? Players are being sought for pick-up baseball games at noon on Saturdays and Sundays at the YMCA softball fields.
There is no cost. Parents are invited to join in and play with their kids, and all skill levels and ages are invited. Games are for fun and beginners are welcome.

Royal Palms offering youth bowling league
LAKE PLACID
Royal Palms' youth bowling league begins its fall season on Saturday, Aug. 29 for ages 7 and up.
Cost is $20 to register and $11 per week, which includes three games and a tee-shirt. New bowlers are welcome. Bowling is at 9 a.m. every Saturday morning through Dec. 5.
All league bowlers accompanied by adult are eligible for reduced rates and free bowling with instruction from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Sebring High pool open, lessons available
SEBRING
The Sebring High School pool is open from 6-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-3 p.m. on weekends, with additional hours to be added after school breaks for summer.
Cost is $2 per swimmer. Family passes are available for $50 for the first swimmer and $15 for each additional swimmer.
Swim lessons will be offered this summer for all ages, infants through adults.
Cost is $45 for two weeks (10 days) of lessons.

Sun 'N Lake summer junior golf camps registering

Sun 'N Lake will hold its junior golf camps from June 8 to July 31 in full-week sessions and four day camps.
Full-week (Monday-Friday) camps cost is $100 for first child, $70 for additional family member. Four-day (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri) camps cost $80. Both camps will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon ( and include breakfast and lunch, along with recap and instruction led by pros Andy Kesling, Jose Lule, Marty O'Hora and Ron Wonderling.
Camps are limited to 20 children each week.

Panther volleyball summer camp on tap
AVON PARK
The Panther volleyball team will hold its annual summer camp July 27-30 at South Florida Community College.
Cost is $100, which includes a T-shirt. Camp includes instruction on the court, in the sand and in the pool from Panther head coach and camp director Kim Crawford, a three-time college All-American, professional and seventh-year SFCC volleyball coach.
Bring shorts, T-shirts, kneepads, gym shoes, water bottle, swimsuit, towel and sunscreen, all marked with camper's name.
The four-day camp is open to grades 6-12 and limited to first 30 applicants.

Avon Park Recreation summer camp registering
AVON PARK
The Avon Park Recreation summer program camp for ages 5-12 will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, from June 15 to Aug. 7.
Cost is $35 per week for first 80 spots, which includes breakfast and lunch. Field trips to APHS pool and Kegel Bowling Center are offered with additional fee.

Sebring Youth Football offering physicals

Sebring Youth Football will provide low-cost sports physicals for participants ages 5-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18. Cost is $15. To schedule a required appointment, call Amy at 381-4801.

Heartland Soccer Club
SEBRING
Registration for competitive soccer teams will be at the Highlands County Sports Complex on Highlands Avenue, on July 7, 9 and 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Registration is open to boys and girls, ages 12-18, from Sebring, Lake Placid and Avon Park. Registration is $150 and includes individual registration with FYSA, uniforms and approximately 10 league games. Players will be assigned to a team based upon age. Sports showcase
A sports showcase will be held on Saturday and Sunday for ages 10-13, 14-17, 18-UP with registration fees of $100 for basketball teams and $140 for football teams.
There will be a basketball tournament, double-elimination, five-man teams with first to seven points with prizes for first through third place.
A slam dunk contest with a $20 registration fee and a grand prize of $100 will be up for grabs and a 40-yard dash with a $20 registration fee and a prize of $100 is available.
A Ryders Extravaganza Car & Bike Show is $40 for all contestants and a Rip Da Stage Expose' (Talent Show) with a registration fee of $20 for all entrants and there will be no foul or explicit language at this event!
On Sunday a softball tournament and home run derby will be held at Martin Luther King Jr. Park with grand prizes for first through third.
There will be vending/activities, food/drink stands, hair cuts, T-shirts, rims display, pictures/clothes, CDs, movies and more.

Highlands baseball tryouts

Highlands Baseball 12-under team is having tryouts for the upcoming season. Tryouts will be held at Max Long Baseball Complex in Sebring on Saturday, July 25, beginning at 9 am. Greater Sebring Open Golf Tournament
SEBRING
The Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce Summer Open Championship is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th at Sun n' Lake Golf & Country Club.
Registration for the two-man scramble format is at 7:30 a.m. and there is an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Teams are flighted by handicap.
$60 entry fee includes round of golf, continental breakfast, plenty of cold beverages, buffet lunch and awards following play.
Prize format is $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $120 for third place.
This event is open to the public. The tournament will also feature a $2,000 hole in one prize sponsored by Cohan Radio Group and a brand new Saturn Outlook courtesy of Saturn of Sebring by Alan Jay.

Football camp
LAKE PLACID
A football combine will be held on Saturday at the Lake June ball fields on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
The event is being put on by Next Level sports which is for teenagers who are about to embark to college. The combine is being run by ex Lake Placid and Florida gator football player Zep Augustine.

Sebring Firemen golf tournament

Sebring Firemen Inc. is pleased to announce the 10th annual Sebring Firemen Memorial Golf Classic will be held on August 8 at Sun 'N Lake Country Club.
The entry fee is $75 per player and a four-person scramble format is being used. Numerous prizes are available and a silent auction for autographed Gator memorabilia will be held.

Sertoma golf tournament

The Highlands County Sertoma Club will host the 32nd annual Highlands Independent Bank/Sertoma golf tournament on Aug. 22-23 at Sun 'N Lake Country Club.
The tournament uses a two-man best ball on for the first round and a two-man scramble on the second day of play.
The entry fee is $144 per player and $194 if you plan on attending the always fun luau.
