Highlands County Administrator Michael Wright was quick to mention an increase in the millage rate from 7.1 mills to 8 mills to balance the county budget. This would be adding insult to injury for homeowners in Highlands County.
No jobs, no pay raises for those with jobs, reduced hours and higher costs for homeowners insurance, not to mention watching the value of your home plummet.
Now Mr. Wright wants to take away the very small consolation of a reduced tax bill.
Kudos to Commissioner Stewart for vowing to oppose this millage increase.
