Scott and Dave Martin

Why did you start the business?
After selling the Sebring School of Hair Design, we started to miss the satisfaction of making people feel good about themselves and their appearance. So we decided to open another salon and make it one of the largest full-service modern salons in Highlands County.

What's unique about your business? How is it different from the competition?
We offer a 50-percent discount for first-time clients. The years of experience and the knowledge that we bring to the salon. Scott has been a stylist for 17 years and an instructor for eight years as well as a Redkin coloring educator and a corrective coloring specialist. Dave has been a master barber stylist for 35 years and an instructor teaching cutting techniques and correcting mistakes made by students and other stylists.

What challenges do you face in business?
The economy for one. The other is we are located between Sebring and Avon Park in the Harborside Plaza. Some people think it's too far to travel from Sebring, but if the results are what you are looking for and want, it's more than worth it. And finding stylists and nail techs that need a new salon to call home.

What do you like about your business?
Making people feel good about their appearance again. Whether it's a new style, cut, perm, color or just by using one of our three tanning beds to achieve that golden summer tan.
