LAKE PLACID - The former editor of the Lake Placid Journal was free Thursday on $1,000 bail after he was arrested on a warrant charging him with obtaining a prescription drug fraudulently.
Paul Thomas Staik Jr., 27, of 409 Grand Prix Drive, Sebring, was arrested and booked in at 1:40 p.m. and released at 2:02 p.m. by Sottile Bail Bonds. His employment was listed on the booking documents as Sun Coast Media Group, which owns the Lake Placid Journal and other publications.
Lake Placid Police Chief Phil Williams said Thursday that he was not aware of the arrest, but that it was based on a 2008 Highlands County case.
No further details were available by press time.
