Your tax dollars are going to great use in a recent landfill beautification project. While people are losing their jobs, butts and wondering how they are going to make the next day's bill deadline, our county is spending your money on dump landscaping.
One would think that the manpower at the landfill could easily accomplish this task, but why when we can pay a professional landscaper? Keep in mind that these are the same people that masterminded the asphalt plant. Please tell me anyone you know that spends a couple of million dollars on any plant or business and thinks that operating 60 days out of the year is an efficient operation. This is just a local example of pork in action. Is it supposed to be OK to have pork money for local operations and just complain about other county, state or federal pork? I really get confused when I try to rationalize with government policies or politics.
Here's my input. I believe you have a moral obligation to pave the perimeter road for all of the captured customers you have. This perimeter road is the same one that was used for partial justification for getting your asphalt plant. Instead you chose to blacktop the road to your asphalt plant and who cares about the customer's vehicles? The ones that finance your monopoly should be given more consideration.
Having recommended the aforementioned to the county for consideration I was informed it wasn't budgeted, address it to the commissioners or pay $50,000 out of my stash money. My stash is like the landfill's fluff (a million dollars worth), nobody knows what happened to it. If I had the cash I'd invest in Carl Cool bobbleheads, erect a twice the size of life bronze statue of Mr. Cool to overlook his landfill legacy and pay Mr. Wheeler to run the tourist trolley.
