AVON PARK - Barbara Miachika will hold a cooking class from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Reflections on Silver Lake clubhouse kitchen.
The class is part of a series of three classes put on by the South Florida Community College's Community Education Department.
Miachika's said her first class was held on Jan. 23, with 18 participants.
Her last class will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb.6.
The Reflections community is located across U.S. 27 from SFCC in Avon Park. The class will give students an opportunity to try new menu ideas under the tutelage of a professional chef.
"In these hands-on cooking workshops, students will learn how to make dishes that appeared difficult, but are easy to accomplish," according to the College's Web site.
"From aromatic soups to decadent desserts, each week participants will complete and eat an appetizer, a main entree, and a dessert, and get to take home the chef's recipes for these delicious dishes."
The cost for the three workshops is $47 and includes the food for all three sessions. Class size is limited, so call to ask if class space is still available.
For information, call the SFCC Community Education Department at 453-6661, Ext. 7388 or 7392. You can register for this class in Building B, Highlands campus, or at any SFCC campus or center.
