LAKE PLACID - A local man remained in jail Monday under no bond following his weekend arrest for reportedly shooting an uninvited wedding reception guest.

Francisco Oliveros-Alvarez, 42, of 207 St. Lucie St., Lake Placid, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm and using a firearm under the influence of alcohol.

On Saturday, members of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office responded to the aforementioned address – where a large wedding reception was being held – in reference to a shooting incident, according to the arrest report.

Oliveros-Alvarez, the home's owner, reportedly told law enforcement that he attempted to run off four uninvited guests after they began causing trouble. He added the subjects were proclaimed gang members.

The four were asked to leave and Oliveros-Alvarez then removed a .22 caliber revolver from his pocket and fired one round into the ground, the report stated. The bullet actually struck one of the subjects in the right foot. The victim left and was later treated for his injuries.

A search of Oliveros-Alvarez's person was conducted, and deputies reportedly found a "small, five-shot .22 caliber revolver" in his right front pocket. The weapon had four live rounds and one spent casing in the chamber.

During an interview following his arrest, the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. An odor of alcohol was reportedly "emanating from his person," the report stated.

Alfredrick Tyrone Tyson, with the HCSO's Criminal Investigations Unit, made the arrest.
