AVON PARK - A local man remained in jail Thursday in lieu of a $200,000 bond following his arrest for allegedly stabbing a victim behind the ear.
Amado Monter Islas, 33, of 702 S. Riggins Road, Avon Park, was charged with one count of attempted felony murder. His next scheduled court date is Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Avon Park police officers responded to 19 N. Central Ave., just before 1 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a fight in progress, according to a press release. The victim, who was reportedly bleeding from a laceration behind his left ear, was located.
The suspect and the victim were reportedly involved in an argument that turned physical. Islas allegedly said "I'll kill you" before stabbing the victim behind the ear, the report stated.
Officers reportedly found a blood-stained spring loaded knife in the suspect's right front pants pocket. He was taken into custody without incident.
