A recent Op-Ed column was written by Leonard Pitts of The Miami Herald, and reprinted in Highlands Today and other papers. The title of Pitt's opinion column was "Eagerly Awaiting History's Verdict." In his column he hoped that President Bush would live a long life to see all of the mistakes that he had made. The idea is that the future, then history, would surely show him what, in Pitts' own words "an awful president you were."
President George W. Bush was certain to be blamed when advised by Colin Powell of the weapons of mass destruction that never materialized. President Bush is still taking the blame for New Orleans when hundreds of school buses that could have been used for evacuation were flooded sitting in the government owned parking lot.
We are still hearing about how our president and FEMA messed that one up. Have we heard anything from the people of Iowa during their same catastrophic results from flooding? Has Michael Moore been screaming how unfair the government was to the people of Iowa? Or did the people of Iowa decide that they should take their survival into their own hands and not wait on the federal government to bail them out, so to speak. But, why argue the point with a liberal columnist who believes that such a negative article serves any positive purpose.
