LAKELAND - Junior forward Yuribia Terrones scored four goals and senior midfielder Erica Resendiz added two more on Tuesday to lead the Lake Placid girls soccer team to a convincing 7-0 victory over Mulberry in the Class 3A-District 8 semifinals at a frigid Southwest Park Complex.
Resendiz opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Terrones gave the Green Dragons a 2-0 halftime lead off an assist from Resendiz. Terrones scored three more goals in the second half to give her a team-leading 27 scores on the season as LP improves to 10-1-1.
Lake Placid, the district's top seed, faces the winner of the McKeel/Frostproof match at 7 p.m. on Thursday. A win there would clinch regional-quarterfinal game at home, while a loss would send the Dragons on the road.
