SEBRING - It's time for snow fights and snow angels in Sebring as the fourth annual Snow Fest rolls along Saturday.
Three piles of snow, inflatable games, food and other activities will be part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser, to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sebring International Raceway.
Admission is $5 per person. Children 3 and under enter free.
About 47 tons of snow will be trucked in for the "snow mountains," which are of varying sizes to cater to children of all ages, said Tameesha Hudson, Big Brothers Big Sisters community director.
Proceeds from Snow Fest help to pay for the group's mentor manager, who is in charge of making and supporting matches between the children the group services and the adults that mentor them. In the last six months, Big Brothers Big Sisters found mentors for about 250 children.
New this year for older children is "gladiator jousting," where kids get strapped to an inflatable and battle each other with sticks, and "spider mountain," which is a climb-and-slide inflatable.
Little kids also will get the chance to try two new things: a power jumper lake and a spinning "turbo tub."
All the activities are included in the admission price.
Hudson said the group is also looking for volunteers to help out during Snow Fest. Volunteers enter free and get a T-shirt and free lunch. To volunteer, call 402-9001.
Last year, about 4,000 visitors showed up, and Hudson is hoping for more.
Those who plan to head out to the event might want to bundle up. The Weather Channel is forecasting cool weather for Saturday. Highs could be in the mid-60s and the lows are expected to dip into the 40s.
