SEBRING - Three men were arrested Saturday in separate cases involving battery.
Laureano Diaz, 74, of Sebring, was charged with battery of a person 65 years of age or older; Jason Lee Guzik, 34, of Sebring, was charged with obstructing justice, a felony, and misdemeanor battery; and Mike Lopez, 38, of Lorida, was charged with felony battery.
Both Lopez and Guzik were out of jail Sunday on a $1,000 bond each, while Diaz remained in custody Monday under no bond.
Diaz was arrested Saturday after allegedly getting into a verbal altercation that turned physical. He reportedly struck the victim in the face, which resulted in contusions to the left eye and cheek area, according to the arrest report.
Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Austin Garza made the arrest.
Guzik reportedly got into an argument with a victim and intentionally grabbed the person's arm, which caused no visible injury, the arrest report stated. The victim tried using a land line to call law enforcement, but the suspect allegedly broke it, as well as two cellular phones.
Guzik denied grabbing the victim's arm, but reportedly admitted to breaking the phones.
HCSO Deputy Michael Abell made the arrest.
Lopez was arrested after allegedly choking a victim before "slamming" the person into a table, causing some cuts and red marks, according to the arrest report.
The suspect reportedly told authorities the victim was, "being disrespectful and called him a foul name," the report stated.
HCSO Deputy Joshua Ouellette made the arrest.
