LAKE PLACID - Hannah Shoop had 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists and Jerica Moore added 10 points on Thursday night to lead the Sebring girls basketball team to a 51-23 victory over Lake Placid in non-district action.

Shannon Williams added eight points and six rebounds, while Kayla Clemens chipped in five points and three assists in a game Sebring led 30-9 at half.

Lake Placid's Kunshee Wilson led the Green Dragons with nine points.

The Dragons took on Frostproof on Friday night. They're back in action on Friday, Jan. 16 at McKeel. The Streaks, who traveled to DeSoto on Friday, are back in action on Jan. 16 when they travel to LaBelle.

WRESTLING: Avon Park 54, Frostproof 24

FROSTPROOF - The Avon Park wrestling team looked good in its first meet since the holiday break, defeating Frostproof 54-24 in the dual meet on Thursday.

James Bland, Kermosi Hatten, John Chittum and Charles Hubbard all won by pins, while Raymond Arango and Omar Torress won by forfeit.

"It was good getting back on the mat and get this victory," said AP coach Lee Elder. "But we need to get back in shape and continue to improve if we want to have success in districts."

Avon Park is back on the mat today, when they travel to face Lake Wales. The event starts at 10 a.m.

GIRLS SOCCER: LaBelle 8, Sebring 0

LABELLE - Sebring head coach Steve Ashley showed up missing several players and really didn't have the numbers to compete and LaBelle ended the game five minutes into the second half in an 8-0 mercy-rule loss on Thursday.

"I was really disappointed in the girls who didn't bother showing up, including the seniors," Ashley said. "I felt bad for the girls who did play and who've shown the dedication and put in the hard work, but was no match for an experienced team like LaBelle."

Sebring will get another crack at LaBelle when they travel for the rematch on Jan. 16. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
