AVON PARK - Johnequa Perry had 15 points and Brearnna Tate added 13 more on Saturday night to pace the Avon Park girls basketball team, but a balanced Lincoln Park Academy attack led the Greyhounds to a 56-46 victory over the Red Devils.
"They were a tough team overall," said AP coach Paulette Daley. "They had great guards and real physical big girls and they pressed a lot.
"But I was pleased with the girls' effort - they played a complete game from start to finish."
Daley said missed layups again haunted the Red Devils, and her team's free throw shooting could use some improvement.
"We could have a different outcome in a lot of our games if we could finish and execute on the free throw line," she said.
The Devils are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lake Wales. See Thursday's Highlands Today for complete coverage.
