LAKE WORTH - Sebring alumnus Adam Simmons threw six solid innings, but the South Florida Community College baseball team had trouble defensively as Palm Beach CC took advantage of five Panther errors to cruise to a 12-2 victory.
"We did not play well at all," said SFCC coach Rick Hitt. "We were just sloppy. It was no fun riding home on that bus from Palm Beach."
Simmons threw 6.1 innings and fanned just one, but the former Blue Streak focused after giving up two runs in the first inning.
"We made two defensive mistakes in the first, but after that, Adam cruised," Hitt said. "He faced two hitters over the minimum the next five innings."
Tom Sicking was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Panthers (14-6) at the plate. No. 6 SFCC is back in action on Friday, when it hosts CBCC Dundalk at Panther Field. The Panthers then host University of Tampa in a doubleheader on Saturday.
First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
