Golf Hammock Holding Ladies Golf Clinics

SEBRING Golf Hammock Country Club will hold ladies golf clinics with PGA/LPGA professional Nell Hays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Cost is $12, which includes discount card for weekend play. All levels are encouraged.

Sun 'N Lake To Hold Junior Golf Clinics

SEBRING Sun 'N Lake country club will hold weekly junior golf clinics from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Watkis To Hold After School Tennis Camp

SEBRING Horace Watkis, 25-year USTA certified tennis professional, will hold after-school tennis camps until March 11 at the Thakkar Tennis Center at Sebring Country Club.

Cost is $75 for tiny tots (ages 4-6), $90 for future champs (6-12) and $120 for pre-tournament academy (12-18).

Weekend Youth Pick-Up Baseball Players Wanted

SEBRING Want to play ball? Need a break from video games? Players are being sought for pick-up baseball games at noon on Saturdays and Sundays at the YMCA softball fields.

There is no cost. Parents are invited to join in and play with their kids, and all skill levels and ages are invited. Games are for fun and beginners are welcome.

Jim McFarling Memorial Tournament On Tap

SEBRING The third annual Jim McFarling Memorial Tournament will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 28 at Spring Lake's Panther Creek golf course.

Cost is $50 per player which includes lunch following golf and pin prizes. The four-person scramble requires two drives from each player. There will be a 50/50 drawing with men's and ladies closest-to-the-pin prizes and a chance to play hole No. 17 from 150 yards for a donation. Mulligans will be available and a raffle will be held.

All proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund for junior golfers involved in the Sertoma junior golf tour.

Fifth Annual McKinney Golf Outing On Tap

SEBRING The fifth annual Sons Of AmVets Bob McKinney golf outing will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 28 at Sebring Municipal golf course.

Cost is $45 for the scramble, which includes cash prizes and merchant gifts. Food and drinks will be served at AmVets Post 21 in Sebring.

AVON PARK The Highlands County Amateur golf championship will be held May 9-10 at Highlands Ridge North.

Avon Park Mower-Plex Races Upcoming

AVON PARK Lawnmower races will be held at 6 p.m. on March 7 and 21, April 18 and May 16 at the Avon Park Mower Plex, 2155 Herrick Road.

LAKE PLACID By Him, For Him Ministries will hold a Sportsmen's Banquet featuring Pro Bass Fisherman Glen Chappelear at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Scarborough Field.

Gates open at 1 p.m. for the Redneck Games, including bucket fishing, casting competitions, roping catfish, corn-hole, toilet seat flipping and more.

Post 25 Vets Golf Tourney Upcoming

LAKE PLACID The third annual Lake Placid American Legion Post 25 Vets Golf Tourney will be held at 8:30 a.m. on April 11 at Placid Lakes Country Club.

Cost is $60, which includes golf, on-course refreshments, closest-to-the-pin prizes on all par 3s, a $10,000 cash prize on No. 6, 50/50, mulligans, door prizes and lunch at Post 25 at 2 p.m.

The four-person scramble is being run by Voiture 863, 40 & 8 and has raised thousands of dollars for needy veterans in Highlands County, along with youth sports and other community projects.

SEBRING The Sebring Elks Lodge will hold its monthly golf outing at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, March 2 at Harder Hall country club.

LP Youth Baseball Accepting Registrations

LAKE PLACID Lake Placid Youth Baseball is accepting registrations for baseball (11-12 and 13-14) and softball (10-12 and 13-15).

Cost is $40 per player and registration deadline is 5:30 p.m. on March 25. League age is defined by player's age as of April 30 for boys and June 1 for girls and birth certificates are required.

Registration forms are available at all public and private schools and the concession stand at Lake June ball fields. They can also be downloaded from lpflrecreation.net. Completed forms can be submitted at Holiday Inn Express, 608 South Lakeview Road in Lake Placid.

Sebring Youth Baseball Signups Cranking Up

SEBRING Sebring Youth Baseball will be accepting registrations for majors (11-12 and 13/14.

Registration will take place March 7 and March 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Max Long Field and March 4 and March 11 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Max Long Field.

Registration is also currently being accepted at Custom Prints, 2805 Alt 27 S., Sebring (behind Publix). Registration forms can also be downloaded from sebringbaseball.com and mailed to P.O. Box 1178, Sebring, FL 33871.

Cost of registration is $75 per player. For families with two players the cost is $65 for the second player. Families with more than three players the cost is $55 for each additional player after the second player.

AP Rec Center Holding Adult Volleyball

AVON PARK Avon Park Recreation is offering adult volleyball for players 18 and over.

Cost is $75 for 10-player-max team, which can be business teams, church teams, family teams or community teams. Registrations run through the end of March. The season will run eight to 10 weeks beginning March. 1.

Coalition For Homeless Golf Event Upcoming

SEBRING The Highlands County Coalition for the Homeless will hold a golf event addressing transportation issues on Sunday, March 15 at Sebring golf club.

Cost is $60 for the four-person scramble, which includes lunch during awards ceremony and trophies for first, second and third place for four categories: Service departments (police, fire, corrections, churches, etc.), Businesses, Public Residents and Schools and Area Golf Courses.

All proceeds will go toward the Coalition's transportation program, which enables needy individuals to get to and from work, school or other appointments.

Donations Wanted For Kegel Garage Sale

SEBRING Donations are being accepted for Kegel Youth Academy's mega garage sale, to held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at Kegel Bowling Center parking lot.

Spaces are available for $10 and hot dogs, cold drinks, chips and a bake sale will be offered. Donations can be dropped off at the junior academy from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. All donations will go toward the junior academy.
