SEBRING - John Finn was glad the van he was traveling in came to a stop before it struck a house.
The Sebring resident was involved in an accident late this afternoon at the corner of Sebring Parkway and Home Avenue. Finn said the driver, Kimberly Doty, was making a turn when the left front tire on the 2006 Kia Sedona minivan blew.
"It blew and she lost control," Finn said.
The vehicle struck the side of a garage that was located right at the intersection. Just a few feet away was a home.
"I was hoping we would stop before we hit the house," Finn said.
He was also fortunate the garage's weather head was disconnected and there was no power going to the side of the outbuilding they struck.
"It's scary," Finn said, adding that both he and the driver were uninjured.
It did not appear as though anyone was inside the home at the time of the accident. Members of the West Sebring Fire Department and the Sebring Police Department responded to the accident.
