AVON PARK In an effort to provide information for area small businesses on strategies to cope with the recession, state Rep. Denise Grimsley, R-Lake Placid, has arranged for a local seminar to be presented by the University of South Florida's Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The Florida SBDC network is state designated as Florida's principal provider of small business assistance.
The two-hour seminar titled "8 Steps to Help Small Businesses Survive a Recession" will start at 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 at South Florida Community College in Avon Park. The event will be held in Room T20 at SFCC's Corporate & Continuing Education building. Presenting the seminar will be Bill McKown, who is a USF SBDC certified business analyst.
Heartland Workforce and Florida's Heartland Rural Economic Development Initiative (FHREDI) are co-sponsors of the event. They will also co-sponsor a similar event in March for the Hardee/DeSoto area small businesses.
There is no charge for the seminar, but seating is limited.
Reservations are suggested. To reserve a seat or for more information, call the USF SBDC at 863-784-7379.
