More Than Just Great Food

I am writing in regard to an incident my husband and I went through about two weeks ago. We went out to dinner at the No Frills Grill, a new restaurant in Lake Placid. We had been there one other time with friends to enjoy the nightly entertainment. The second time was my husband and myself for one of their burgers we had heard so much about. We sat at the bar and ordered our food. The bartender was very friendly as were the patrons. We had our burgers, which lived up to their expectations.

When we got out to our car, which was a fairly chilly evening, we discovered our battery was dead. Two gentlemen we were conversing with inside came out at that time and offered us a ride home.

As the guys looked under the hood they noticed some corrosion on the battery and asked if I would go inside and find a screwdriver. In short, that did not make any difference. I took the screwdriver back inside and asked if we could leave our car overnight? That's when it all happened....

The bartender went in the back and soon the chef came out with cables, which I believe is called a battery pack. That didn't work. They also tried to clean the corrosion. A young lady, waitress came out and said, "I have cables, let me move my car over and we'll get this going." There were other people-staff working to make sure we got our car started and got out of there safely.

I was so impressed with how they handled it. It would have been so much easier to say, "sure, leave your car." No, they jumped right in, smiling, with positive attitudes and human kindness that restores all faith. The owners, Mark and Karen Bartlett, not only have a fantastic place to eat they have what I call top of the line employees.

Thank you to the staff of No Frills Grill. My only regret is that I do not remember your names. However, I will always remember what you did for us.
