LAKE PLACID - McKeel guard Cappy Toney scored a game-high 28 points on Saturday night to lead the Wildcats to a 60-30 victory over Lake Placid in the championship final of the Class 3A-District 10 tournament.
Lake Placid was led by Kaneisha Hamilton, who scored a game-high 11 points before injuring her knee late in the second quarter. An ambulance was called and the game was delayed more than 20 minutes as the senior was carried off on a stretcher.
The extent of her injury is unknown at this time.
Without Hamilton's steadying presence, a nine-point deficit balooned to 20 points and McKeel cruised to the win as Lake Placid had four players foul out in the second half.
Despite the loss, Lake Placid moves on to the regional quarterfinals on Thursday night at the home of the District 8 champion.
