LAKE PLACID - Freshman forward Jamacia Gayle scored a game-high 23 points and senior guard Kaneisha Hamilton added 18 on Friday night to lead the Lake Placid girls basketball team to a 66-50 victory over Frostproof in the semifinals of the Class 3A-District 10 tournament at Lake Placid High School.
The Green Dragons won despite being in foul trouble: They had three starters on the bench in the third. But the LP bench came through with clutch baskets and key defensive stops to lead the Dragons to the district title game and an automatic berth in the regional tournament.
LP will face top seed McKeel Academy for the district title on at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
