Challenges We Face

Published: February 6, 2009

Would you join me in praying for our president? Like many of you I didn't vote for him, but none the less he is our president. He truly does have a momentous task before him and he needs our support and wisdom only God can give. He has offered a couple of things that are promising, saying that any treaty between Israel and Palestine for peace would have to stop the rockets aimed at Israel and the flow of underground arms from other countries.
As I understand it, the arms are coming from Egypt through underground tunnels. So, it is easy to see, Israel is not only at war with Palestine but also with others who are contributing to the effort. We may not want to admit it but this is an underhanded, unfair conflict which is apt to get worse before it gets better.
We think we have problems with facing a recession, but no matter how bad the economy or how hard it becomes to get employment, it is nothing compared to what people around the world are facing. Freedom is the most precious thing we will ever have except our relationship with Jesus. Let us never take it for granted.
We have many issues that were not discussed during the campaign and there are many ideas for resolution, but that's why we have the type government we have and I'm praying that our president can continue to bring people together to discuss hearing from all sides and come up with solutions that will be for the benefit of all. Our country has been going in the wrong direction ever since Ronald Reagan left office. It is too bad those following didn't have the common sense and determination.
