AVON PARK - The Highlands County recycling bins that had been on Museum Avenue, between the library and the police station, have been moved to the Durrah Martin Sports Complex.
Christy Reed, director of the recycling program, said the bins had to be moved due to the streetscape construction project in the downtown area.
The recycling bins will remain at Durrah Martin Sports Complex for about five months, until the streetscape project is completed.
Durrah Martin Sports Complex is on State Street, about three blocks west of U.S. 27. State Street is located between the Clock Restaurant and the Oak Tree Inn on U.S. 27.
The recycling program accepts aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, newspapers and magazines, office paper, and all junk mail except envelopes with plastic windows. Phone books are also accepted and should be placed in the white recycling containers for cardboard.
