LAKE PLACID - Golfers and volunteers braved Saturday's blustery conditions to participate in Lake Placid High School's Project Graduation golf scramble at Placid Lakes Country Club.
The one-day, 18-hole event attracted a field of 64 golfers, who competed in a four-person scramble format.
The foursome of Scott Baker, Billy Bonecutter, Tony Mendez and Muzaffar Abbas blistered the Placid Lakes course with an 11-under-par 61 to win the First Flight.
Baker's group had three eagles on the day and Bonecutter also won the putting contest.
Coming in 12th with a 73 was the talented team of Randy Gilde, Rick Green, Robert Green and David Dilley with a 73.
The group of Tom Dettman, Steve Carr, John Matteis and Bill Shrewsbury finished 16th with a score of 78.
The tournament raised approximately $3,000 and the proceeds from the event go to Lake Placid High School's Project Graduation, which provides a chaperoned, drug and alcohol-free all-night event for the graduates to enjoy.
Duffer's Pub Super Bowl Scramble
AVON PARK - Getting up early to play golf was a great way to get the Super Bowl weekend off on the right track.

The tournament raised approximately $2,000 and the proceeds went to benefit the Avon Park High School football program.
"This is the thirteenth year we've had this tournament," said Pinecrest professional John Vicker. "We wanted to help the Avon Park football program because they had some equipment stolen recently.
"We appreciate the support from the sponsors and the players and we're happy to help out because it's all about giving back to the community."
Vicker is planning on holding another tournament in July to assist the Red Devil football team.
"We're thinking about another tournament in July because it's a lot warmer then and the football season is only a month away," Vicker said. "We're going to do whatever we can to be an asset to the community."
