AVON PARK - The Avon Park Police Department took a teenager into custody Aug. 1 for a burglary charge and now list him as the suspect in a string of vehicle and home burglaries that happened in late July.
The 15-year-old reportedly stole thousands of dollars worth of property that included CDs, computer games, DVDs, a laptop, a Nintendo DS and a GPS system. The thefts occurred in close proximity to the minor's Tulane Drive home, according to arrest records.
In one of the thefts, the suspect found an unlocked van and took $200 worth of CDs, $40 in computer games and $15 cash.
When the juvenile was arrested on Aug. 1 for an unrelated burglary, his parents found several of the stolen items in his room, according to the report.
He faces six felony burglary charges and five misdemeanor charges, four of which are grand theft and one that is property damage.
