LP man arrested for lewd behavior with child

LAKE PLACID - A Lake Placid man was arrested Tuesday on warrants accusing him of showing an 11-year-old girl sexually explicit Web sites.
Andrew Martin Welden, 57, of 1224 Orange Drive, Lake Placid, was charged with lewd, lascivious behavior and distributing obscene material to a minor. He remained in the Highlands County Jail Wednesday under a $26,000 bond.

The victim was interviewed by investigators on Monday and accused Welden of showing her the Web sites on Aug. 13 using his personal laptop. They included a site containing images of nude celebrities, according to the arrest report.

"She told him it was gross," the report stated.

The girl also alleged that Welden asked if he could touch her in an inappropriate manner.

A witness first discovered the action and it was confirmed by the 11-year-old during the interview, the report stated.

Robert Brian Livesay, with the HCSO's Special Investigations Unit, investigated and Deputy Shannon Purvis made the arrest.
