LAKE PLACID - The Highlands 4-H dog club is hosting the first statewide 4-H Dog Conference at 4-H Camp Cloverleaf in Lake Placid Aug. 7-9.
Members of 4-H and their dogs will arrive on Friday afternoon and participate in training sessions, educational seminars and fun activities throughout the weekend.
The participants range in age from 8-18 and will fine tune their showing skills, learn about pet first aid, watch an agility demonstration given by local border collie breeder and trainer Eileen Madrigale.
Canine units from the Highlands County Sheriff's Office will show off their expertise and network with other dog enthusiasts.
The public is invited to visit during the weekend and view the activities that will run all day.
Camp Cloverleaf is located at 126 Cloverleaf Road. It is located between Sebring and Lake Placid about seven miles south of the intersection of U.S. 98 and State Road 66. For those heading south on U.S. 27, Cloverleaf Road will be on the right. The camp is about a half-mile from U.S. 27.
