Now that the incident of Harvard Professor Gates and Sgt. Crowley has ended with a "happy hour" with the president, one wonders why our president got involved in the matter.
What is disturbing to me is he said he did not see the police report yet said the "police acted stupidly." This is like saying "I didn't see the Marlins game last night but they played terrible." President Obama never did admit he was wrong on the way he got involved in the matter.
Those of us over 60 may recall the Bay of Pigs Invasion in April of 1961. On that occasion, President Kennedy went on national television and said "the invasion was a failure and I take the full responsibility for it." What a fine example of honesty as well as admitting when one is wrong. JFK's popularity increased tremendously shortly after the remark was made. President Obama's remarks were quite different and certainly did not enhance his popularity.
