LAKE PLACID - Investigators have identified the body found Monday in the Sun 'N Lakes subdivision in Lake Placid.
Jose A. Cabrera Cirino, 48, of Sebring, was found at 3:48 p.m., in the undeveloped eastern portion of the subdivision, according to a Highlands County Sheriff's Office press release. He is listed as a white male of apparent Hispanic origin.
Lt. Tim Lethbridge, with the sheriff's office's Criminal Investigations Unit, said the exact cause of death was not being released at this time.
The death is being investigated as a homicide and authorities are seeking information about the crime itself, as well as friends and associates of the victim. Part of that investigation centers on a motive, according to Lethbridge.
Anyone with information is asked the call the sheriff's office at 863-402-7200. Those wanting to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward can call Heartland Crime Stoppers at (800) 226-TIPS.
