The editorial board at the Highlands Today has the satirical sense of humor of the publishers of "The Onion." We have recently been treated to great pearls. There was the fellow who put Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann in the same scary category as terrorist groups Al Qaida and Hamas.

Then there was the fellow who suggested anyone who insists on the separation of church and state, is against Christ and therefore, wait for it, Antichrists! Guess that includes all Buddhists, Muslims and those evil religious moderates. Then there was the fellow who informed us that burning coal puts only minute amounts of pollution is the air. Putting aside the sulfur, arsenic, lead and mercury that comes from coal burning plant, his point is that coal puts out carbon dioxide which plants use to grow. Never mind that plants did fine without the smokestacks and that there is now about three times more carbon in the air than the biota can absorb, we are just doing the environment a favor burning coal.

Thank you Highlands Today for the occasional morning chuckle. Keep them coming.
