SARASOTA - Kyle Jackson threw five no-hit innings and Chad Marley and Josh Gordon each had two hits on Wednesday to lead the Avon Park baseball team to an 11-1 victory over Booker in a Class 4A-District 10 makeup game.
"Kyle threw strikes and had all three of his pitches working," said AP coach Mort Jackson. "He kept them off-balance and did a nice job."
The Devils, who improved to 4-15 on the season, host arch-rival Sebring tonight at Head Field. Coach Jackson said he's seen improvement every game out his Devils, and the clash with the Streaks should provide a good barometer for where the team's at heading into this month's district tournament.
"We've gotten better every game, we just need to keep progressing," Mort Jackson said. "It always helps to head into that game with a win."
See Sunday's Highlands Today for complete coverage of tonight's game, including photos and reaction.
TONIGHT Sebring at Avon Park, 7 p.m.
