This is a quote from the Tampa Tribune on Sept. 24. It came from the mouth of Karen Peoples, who has been the Tampa Housing Authority Commissioner since 1998 and she has, by this article, lived in this residence since 1984.
The rent payment Ms. Peoples was responsible for was a mere $26 per month and the article states she was $58 in arrears. She stated she had nowhere to go. The article stated that the authority had been trying to work with Ms. Peoples since January. They offered to relocate her from her four-bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment at three different housing properties. She refused each offer, because it would have taken her out of her East Tampa neighborhood she calls home.
She has accused the housing officials of professional misconduct, which has been found to be untrue. She also accused her former property manager of unprofessional and sexual misconduct. This is exactly what the problem with this nation is today. We have allowed this type of behavior to prevail in our society. The Democrats have condoned and, yes, even endorsed this sort of lifestyle over the past half century; and if you think it will change if the Democrats get the White House, then let's talk about some bridges you may like to buy.
Ms. Peoples stated that: "Public housing was available to help get people on their feet." At $26 per month, does it actually require 24 years to accomplish this goal? The article says nothing about Ms. Peoples having any kind of handicap. So, do we believe she could have worked and supported herself? You bet we do! She states that "God will not let them get away with this." I think God has been quite just with her in this regard. Hillsborough County Judge Myers said Ms. Peoples did not follow the law. It is great to see this judge decide on the part of the people (us.) We wish Ms. Peoples well.
