I don't understand Highlands County Commissioner Barbara Stewart filing a complaint with the Sebring Police Department against Sheriff Susan Benton for some kind of verbal abuse like raising your voice for emphasis? Is that a crime?
Benton is sincere about her job, she doesn't belong to any "good ole boys club," and she says what she thinks is right. If she needs to raise her voice a couple of decibels to get her point across, she does it.
To me it's just plain frivolous action for Commissioner Stewart to take a charge like this to the Sebring Police. These smears being brought just prior to the election against Benton won't hurt her, as measured against former sheriffs, Benton has a very good record. I'm a registered Republican and Susan Benton will have my vote.
