On Aug. 28, I sat and listened to Sen. Barack Obama's acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States.
As I was listening, it brought back memories of my childhood when me, my brother, my mother and father and my great-grandmother sat and listened to Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech in Washington, D.C. That was a day I will never forget as well as Aug. 28, 2008.
If I were an undecided voter, which I'm not, after listening to Sen. Obama and really looking at what has happened and is happening to the U.S.A. at this point and for the last eight years, there would be no doubt in my mind that I would vote for Obama for president.
It's time and past time that we as a people, not black or white, take off the color barriers and be for real and judge people for what they do for others and not the color of their skin.
It's a sad thing when you have one of your children say to you: "If Obama gets elected president, some redneck will, or attempt to, assassinate him." None of my children been taught to hate anyone, but face it, racism is still here and children are smart enough to recognize it when they see and hear it.
People it's simple, it's either four more years of the same old thing that hasn't worked for eight years or a chance to bring us back to prominence. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a change and I'm ready to give Senators Obama and Biden that chance to change the wrongs of George W. Bush the first and not give George W. Bush the second (John McCain) a chance to keep dragging the working man or woman further down poverty lane.
And for those of you that know the word of prayer, pray for Obama and his family that no harm come to for pursuing their dream of being the First Family of the United States of America.
