SEBRING - EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to correct the spelling of Michael Cogar.
Michael Cogar, 50, of Sebring, died after Marylin Brown, 62, failed to negotiate a turn at State Road 17 and North Ridgewood Drive.
Cogar owned Big Mike's Garage at 839 N. Ridgewood Drive.
Sgt. Greg Barlaug, of Sebring Police, said on Sunday that the accident was still under investigation by Sebring officers, Sean Bueford and Mike Hirsch. Police were summoned at 3:44 p.m.
Barlaug said there were no skid marks at the scene and it appeared that Brown failed to apply the brakes on her 2003 Kia prior to impact.
The car's impact pushed Cogar through a plate glass window and concrete wall at the shop. The Kia rested against a rear wall of the shop when police arrived, said Barlaug.
Barlaug said a witness was "very lucky" and "missed being struck by mere inches."
Brown was conscious at the scene. Highlands County EMS and Sebring Fire Department prepared Brown for an Aero Med flight. Brown was pronounced dead at Lakeland Regional Hospital.
