Celebrity Politicians

Published: September 17, 2008

Mayr Malool asks: "When did we start treating politicians like celebrities?" (Remember the Kennedys?) She then goes on to berate Sarah Palin and the attention she's been receiving. What media is Ms. Malool watching?

Perhaps she missed the quote from actress Susan Sarandon when asked about Gov. Palin. Sarandon said, "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor." Read Palin as Pontius Pilate and Senator Obama as Jesus. I guess Ms. Malool doesn't consider the Son of God a celebrity. Maybe the famous Clinton cultist Barbra Streisand singing for Obama's supper before a roster of her Hollywood friends (who all worship at the altar of Obama) will convince Malool that Palin pales in comparison to Obama in the celebrity sweep stakes.

Ms. Malool also says, "McCain is no more qualified to be president than any other politician." Hello, does she know that her candidate is a politician, and a politician with a sketchy record at that? At least Gov. Palin can claim two years as the chief executive of a state. Sen. Obama has a record of 143 days in the Senate. In fact, Obama has never held a four-year job. There's nothing like starting at the top. An extremely junior senator, with a charismatic style and Ivy League-honed speaking style is running for president. Who's a celebrity now?
