LAKE PLACID - A Highlands County press release reveals new information in connection with a drive-by shooting in Highway Park Sept 7 for which a Lake Placid man is a suspect.
Elbert McFarlane Heron, 28, of 130 Zion St, remained in Highlands County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $110,500 bond after he was arrested Friday night and charged with attempted second-degree murder, firing a weapon or discharging a firearm in public, firing a deadly missile into a dwelling, vehicle or building and firing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle.
Investigators reported they learned that Heron and another individual arrived in a vehicle. Heron parked across the street and he and the passenger exited a green Crown Victoria, according to a sheriff's report. Victims told investigators that Heron started shooting in their direction.
At this time, no charges have been filed against this second person.
Also, a bullet just missed a two-month old baby who was sitting in a car seat in one of the vehicles that was reportedly hit.
The shooting allegedly happened at 114 Anderson St. in Lake Placid.
