Bud Morgan Column

Published: September 13, 2008

While Bud Morgan is entitled to his opinions, one is impelled to ask how Bud came to such a glowing opinion and endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama. It seems that Mr. Morgan's opinion is, to use Bud's own words, "without any substantial foundation."

Mr. Morgan speaks twice about Obama's "character and wisdom." Perhaps Bud has seen something that is invisible to the rest of us. To say that "Obama has more experience than President Bush" is ludicrous. What experience Bud? Perhaps Bud is referring to Obama's past as a "community activist."

It seems to me that someone with "character and wisdom" would not have tolerated a radical preacher for 20 years, nor associated with radical groups and a known terrorist.

As for "silencing all those who do not know him," nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, very few of us really know very much about the man, and that is what is so troubling. Certainly, we are not about to learn who he really is from the liberal media, since all they can do is fawn over the man, as if he is the promised "Savior."

Mr. Morgan says that Obama "can relate to the suffering of the men and women of this country." How could he, when by all accounts he himself is an "elitist" who went to Harvard and lived a privileged life?

If Mr. Morgan "feels perfectly comfortable with the security of this nation in the hands of Obama," then it seems to me that he is easily swayed by "flowery speeches," and it suggests that Bud has grossly ignored his "homework."
